Please Introduce Yourself.
What will you answer when someone asks you, “Please introduce yourself”?
I found it as a thought-provoking request. “Please introduce yourself”. I keep repeating it in my mind, trying to find a “correct” answer, not the one that is wanted by the one who ask it, but an answer that would satisfy me.
First thing first, I would tell him/her my name, Shabrina Virta Inmas. A name. A prayer. A person. Me. (A last name could be added later on, but that’s another story =))
After that I would inform them my country of origin, Indonesia. A country. A hometown. A pride. A place where I belong.
Then, I got stuck. I don’t know any other things worth saying. It doesn’t mean that I don’t have any other things that are important to me. It’s just I got confused. What should I tell him/her first? I have a weird family with two brothers and another family, with cute niece and nephew that I love so much. I have a laptop, sleek and elegant, which I use to do many things. I enjoy being in a library and spend much time there. I am currently learning how to draw comic. I am studying in a major that I’m proud of. I am an engineer-gonna-be. And I have a dream, to make revolution in industrial and educational system.
Yet, I still don’t know how to design an answer that would satisfy me. And you know what? I don’t think I’d be able to find it soon. I think this is a request that I have to ask myself continuously, as long as I’m alive. My answer would evolve accordingly. Still, it does not guarantee that I could find an answer that would satisfy me.
