The “Royal Wedding”

Have you checked you newspaper today? Or been signing in your favorite social network and see what’s happening in the world, Indonesia especially?

I always want to know what’s happening near me, at my home, at school, in my city, in my country, though I did not have much interest in what’s going on internationally. I can’t refrain myself from giving any comment regarding any interesting event. Most of them would stay forever in my mind, some goes to drafts-that-will-later-go-to-recycle-bin, some being topic of conversation with my boy/friends, and some goes to blog posts. Just like this one.

There’s this Ibas, who’s marrying a daughter of Hatta Rajasa. He, himself, is one of SBY’s sons (SBY refers to Susilo Bambang Yudhoyone, current Indonesian’s president). I congratulate them sincerely. And of course a little bit more galau, since at least one more person that I know is getting married and I’m here waiting my turn to come. Well, let’s get back to the topic, before I start blabbering about me being the galau goddess.

Some people did give some harsh comments about the wedding. They say that the president should not do that, because many of Indonesians are still living in hunger, have no money to cure their children, have no job, and the list continues.

I don’t agree with them.

It’s their money, people! They could do anything they want with it. Think about it, you are having your wedding, and then tell me that you don’t want it to go just like you’ve always wanted! Puh-lease! Some people do want simple wedding, but what about the majority? It’s gonna be once in a lifetime (at least that was the plan)! And politically speaking, we do have some image to be saved.

You said that they should give it to the poor, bla bla bla. There is no rule that say they HAVE TO give their money. Well, if you are a moslem, then you have this 2.5% thingy and that’s all. The rest is yours to keep.

As far as I know, they do have foundations or something like that. I do believe they have given away their 2.5% or even more. They have more money than you, dear people. Even when they have already given much more money than what you’ve done, they still have much more money left. ACCEPT IT.

Yes, there is this morality and it would be better if they sympathize and so on and so on. Again, as I’ve told you, perhaps they have another image that has to be saved. Just like the SEA Games. Do you see what I mean? It is important in political life.

And it’s a wedding, for god sake! Be happy for once!
